Fundraising UPDATE!!!

Updating once again:
My son is up to $102.03 US, which converts to about $159.92 roughly, give or take the exchange rate hehe.

Even better, on Thursday night, we received an email from Tasmanian of the Year 2008, Bruce Englefield, chairman of the "Devil Island Project", who works with the Tassie government to build the enclosures that quarantine the disease free devils, to keep them safe and healthy! He explained to us that while the funds donated to the research will help eventually, that if we were to donate some of the funds to their cause, that there would be more visible, tangible results, and that his name would appear at one of their sites as a sponsor.

I never dreamed that when my son came home that day a few weeks ago, and started telling me what he wanted to do ... well, I didn't realize that he would get so much attention from all over the world! LOL

Sooo..as this is the first post on the blog, I am not sure what to write LOL, so I guess I will start by explaining why I pulled it together in the first place.

My oldest son's class is doing their public speaking stuff right now in school, and he's doing his speech on Tasmanian Devils.

For the first time, he is very passionate about something and wants to do something to help save them. They have this form of contagious cancer that is killing them...within 3-5 months of the first tumour developing, they starve to death. They are on the endangered species list now, and unless they find a cure for the "Devil Facial Tumour Disease" they will be gone within a few years...totally wiped out.

So...he's organized a fundraiser at his school ... but since his school is small, I am going to be helping him out and putting out a tassie devil scrap kit that I will sell on here, and will be giving him 100% of the profits to donate.

Watch here for updates! The B&W Day is May 15, 2009, so I have time to put together a decent kit, and offer it for one month only. More details will be posted soon :o)
